Synopsis
The year is 1945. The second world war has ended and so has Japan’s rule of Taiwan. But peace is short-lived because with a new regime comes new turmoil. A City of Sadness portrays the misfortune of the Lin family who are caught into the conflicts with the immigrants from China when the Japanese regime is replaced by the KMT government.
