Synopsis
Based on Andrey Kurkov’s novel, Grey Bees is set in a remote village in the Donbas “grey zone”, cut off from electricity and caught in the limbo that followed Russia’s 2014 invasion. Only two villagers remain: former childhood rivals, now retired miners, whose lives have taken starkly different paths. One looks east, the other west — neither finding what they hoped for. But when a Russian sniper appears and the threat of a major offensive grows, their uneasy coexistence is put to the test. Day by day, they edge closer to a choice they can no longer avoid: adapt, or resist.
