Synopsis
Paris, 1889. Hoping to offer her baby a better future, Rose leaves her rural home to become a wet nurse for a bourgeois family. She meets Odette, a midwife, who warns her: she won’t be allowed to keep her own child with her. A risky solution presents itself to Rose: secretly exchange her baby with that of Hélène de Gersande, a mother grieving the sudden loss of her infant. Rose, Odette, and Hélène—three women from very different backgrounds—will have to join forces to carve out a place for themselves in a male-dominated world, and claim their freedom.

Series Express is een rondreizend festival dat door Unifrance is opgezet om Franse series internationaal te promoten. Het uitgangspunt is om de producties en hun artistieke teams op reis te sturen om buitenlands publiek te ontmoeten, zodat zij de rijkdom en diversiteit van de Franse audiovisuele creatie kunnen ontdekken. Voor de eerste editie, van 26 tot en met 29 november 2026, doet het festival Brussel aan, waar vier Franse series voor het eerst zullen worden vertoond. Deze series, die door Laurent Valière in overleg met Unifrance uit een selectie van ongeveer dertig series zijn gekozen, illustreren de diversiteit aan genres en brengen met name bijzondere vrouwelijke personages in de schijnwerpers.
