NL : Lenno, a little Dutch boy, has a personality disorder. He goes to a special school, and tries his best to be nice fit in. The beautiful underwater pictures show that nothing is black and white. A slice-of-life documentary that had it’s première at IDFA Amsterdam.

FR : Lenno, un petit garçon des Pays-Bas, souffre d’un trouble de la personnalité. Il fréquente une école spéciale, et essaie d’être sage et de faire comme les autres. Les images sous l’eau montrent que rien n’est jamais tout noir ou tout blanc. Ce documentaire tranche-de-vie a connu sa première à l’IDFA d’Amsterdam.
2.A BUTCHER’S HEART – MARIJN FRANK (15′)
NL: Wessel is a Dutch boy of 13, who’s learning the craft of being a butcher from his grandfather. But Wessel has doubts about his vocation… He’d rather be working with real, alive animals. At school, the other kids tease Wessel sometimes, because of what his family does for a living. But Wessel is smart enough to see through their hypocrisy: they eat meat, and it does not grow on trees. This documentary screened at the IDFA.

FR : Wessel est un jeune garçon de treize ans qui habite aux Pays-Bas. Il apprend le métier de boucher avec son grand-père. Mais Wessel n’est pas certain de sa vocation. Il préfèrerait travailler avec de vrais animaux, vivants. A l’école, les autres enfants se moquent de Wessel et de l’occupation de sa famille. Mais Wessel comprend toute leur hypocrisie: ils mangent de la viande, et elle ne tombe pas du ciel. Un documentaire qui a eu sa première mondiale à l’IDFA.

A number kids can dial to talk about their problems… This documentary by Astrid Bussink gives us a look at the most surprising calls… sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking. This docu won the ‘Special Jury Award for Children’s Documentary’ in 2018 at IDFA.

FR : Aux Pays-Bas, il existe un « Téléphone des enfants ». C’est un numéro que les enfants peuvent appeler pour parler de leurs problèmes. Ce documentaire d’Astrid Bussink nous fait écouter les conversations les plus frappantes et surprenantes… Parfois drôles, souvent émotionnelles. Le film a gagné le Prix spécial du Jury, catégorie documentaires pour enfants en 2018 à l’IDFA.
