From various continents, this movie program brings together various degrees of comprehension of intimate and political sex workers issues: relationships with clients, political involvement, self-care. Under the label queer.red presents! is a Dutch-based group of (former) sex workers, feminists, queer and trans people who organise events on the topic of sex work. Thriving: A Dissociated Reverie is a surrealist exploration of dissociative identity disorder (DID) based on the lived experience of Black, non-binary, disabled emerging multidisciplinary performance artist and former sex worker Kitoko Mai. Grappling with their DID diagnosis while attempting to survive capitalism, we meet a range of “alters” (alternate personalities) representing the various emotional states of Mai, the “system host.”

Relationships in BDSM are centered around the issue of consent. The dominant and the submissive both have to agree beforehand on what their roles are going to entail. In role play, the actors follow a specific scenario based on the fantasies they wish to fulfill. Together they work to bring their yearnings to life, although there’s also another, lingering question: do these short-lived escapes from everyday reality have an impact on the actors’ actions after the role play ends? Can the play influence how the „slaves“ approach women and members of minorities afterwards in their daily lives? Story of Mistress Velvet introduces us to BDSM as a sphere of subversion through which an individual can bring about a broader societal change.

From the documentary Revolucion Puta by Maria Galindo, the result of 20 years of struggle with sex workers in Bolivia on self-managed sex work, without bosses or pimps.The lyrics of this song were created by more than 60 sex workers in an afternoon of collective work. All of them belong to the organization OMESPRO (ORGANIZACION DE MUJERES EN SITUACION DE PROSTITUCION), a self-managed organization.With these lyrics the Kumbia Queer composed the song.
SNAP is een festival dat volledig aan de representaties, discoursen en verhalen van sekswerk gefocused is. Voor deze nieuwe editie zijn de Hallen van Schaarbeek op 18 en 19 oktober de plek voor het live arts programma, terwijl de Cinéma Galeries de filmvertoningen voor hun rekening nemen.
