Solus

Frederic Siroul, Belgium, 28′

In many places in the world, parents have no other choice but to move abroad to find better paid jobs to provide for their families and the future of their children. The Republic of Moldova, one of the poorest countries in Europe, is no exception to this mass migration. Cleopatra and Susanna are taking us on a heartwarming journey where we witness, through children eyes, two contrasted emotional evolutions of their identities. Both girls meet on Independence Day Aug 27, were they disappear in the cheering crowd of happy families and start a discussion in the playground about their common realities.

Klette

Michael Abay, Belgique, 17′

The 26-year-old Morgane still lives with her mother, has not yet completed her studies, and her love life doesn’t get beyond one-night stands. She evidently doesn’t know how to get things done – in Brussels we call someone like that a Klette. Or does she, like so many young adults, struggle with the pursuit of the socially imposed course of life?

Selections/awards: Leuven International Short FF (Jury Award – Best Acting), VAF Wildcard (Best Student Short Film).
