Synopsis
Sunday the Ninth tells the story of brothers Horst (Josse De Pauw) and Franz (Peter Van den Begin) who meet again after a life full of missed opportunities. Horst suffers from a lack of joie de vivre and Alzheimer's disease. Franz needs money and hopes to inherit his brother's fortune. Andrea, Horst's great love, also appears, determined to make up for lost time. Old passions, old wounds, and a rivalry between two brothers that goes back further than they realize. Whether we still remember what happened on “Sunday the Ninth” or not. The film intertwines the memories of two brothers with those of the residents of a nursing home, thereby conveying in a unique way that caring for one another is perhaps the most essential form of humanity.
