Synopsis
Rama, a novelist in her thirties, attends the trial of Laurence Coly at the Saint-Omer assizes. She is accused of having killed her fifteen-month-old daughter by abandoning her on a beach in the north of France, just as the tide was rising. Rama wanted to write a contemporary adaptation of the ancient myth of Medea. But during the trial, nothing goes as planned. In the end, it is her own relationship to motherhood that the closed-door trial questions...

From Apichatpong Weerasethakul to Alice Diop to Ali Cherri, this edition of the festival is marked by several artists who come from cinema or who—coming from the visual arts—have produced films. In the weeks leading up to the festival, Cinema Galeries is organising a retrospective of some of their films, a way to revisit or to delve into their poetics in anticipation of the new productions they will present at the festival.
