UN CINÉMA D’ÉTÉ AVEC ANDRZEJ WAJDA

On the occasion of the centenary of his birth and the tenth anniversary of his passing

On the occasion of the centenary of the birth and the tenth anniversary of the passing of Andrzej Wajda, the Polish Institute of Brussels and Cinema Galeries are pleased to invite you to an exceptional film series dedicated to one of the greatest European filmmakers of the 20th century.

A major figure of world cinema, Andrzej Wajda accompanied, film after film, the upheavals of Polish history while building a universal body of work on memory, freedom, resistance and human dignity.

The series will be inaugurated by Andrzej Wolski, a Franco-Polish filmmaker based in Paris. Director of the documentary Wajda – A Film Lesson (2016), made a few months before Andrzej Wajda’s passing, he selected the films presented in this series. He will be present at the opening screening on 29 June to introduce the programme.

The four films presented offer a unique perspective on the history of Poland in the 20th century and on a body of work that has profoundly marked European and world cinema.
