Caroline Strubbe Concludes Her Trilogy *Trying to Forget to Remember*

Director Caroline Strubbe was honored at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York last May. Her trilogy, titled *Trying to Forget to Remember*, began in 2009 with *Lost Persons Area*, followed by *I’m the Same, I’m an Other* in 2013.

It concludes with *The Silent Treatment*, released in 2025.

As a direct sequel, understanding it requires careful attention to its premises in order to fully grasp the scope of a work that is as coherent as it is complex—one in which viewers can lose themselves again and again through repeated viewings, yet never tire of the beauty of the whole. We reunite with Tess, now 18 years old, a victim of Stockholm syndrome who has developed an obsessive bond with her kidnapper, Szabolcs.

Featuring the same lead actors, the trilogy shows Tess growing up on screen, while Szabolcs struggles under the weight of his past actions.
