Introducing

We are delighted to announce the screening of the film Of land and bread, directed by Ehab Tarabieh and produced by B’tselem, on 18 December at 6.30pm.
The screening will be followed by a free (vegan) dinner organised by the Cantine 100 dal.

The aim of this event is to support four people stranded in Gaza.
Moataz , Yazan, Amjad and Zain are currently living through the repercussions of Western colonial policies, which lacerate civilian populations on a daily basis.

Synopsis

The human rights organisation B'tselem has provided video cameras to Palestinians in the West Bank so that they can document their lives under Israeli occupation. These raw recordings capture in the simplest and most effective way the abuses committed daily by settlers and the army against Palestinians.

AMJAD
I am Amjad, a Palestinian from Gaza.

I was displaced to Rafah with my family of 9 because of the Israeli occupation and because of the events of the war. Of course, the first time we were displaced to Rafah, we were overwhelmed and tormented a lot because we didn’t know anybody there, nor did we know the place.

When we first arrived in Rafah, we did not find a place to stay in, not even a tent. It was not easy but we managed to buy one. We stayed in Rafah for more than 4 months and of course we suffered a lot, because we did not have enough money for the necessities to live there and we became dependent on humanitarian aid. The aid trucks only entered every three or four weeks. We got in more difficulty when my little brother fell ill, and I was injured due to the bombing. Then the army announced that it wanted to enter Rafah, so we left Rafah and returned to the city of Khan Yunis. We were shocked upon arriving there to find our house bombed and destroyed by the occupation.

We are currently in a dire situation, and would need some help to afford daily necessities here and hopefully get out of Gaza at some point.

MOATAZ
Hello, I am Moataz, and I am writing to you from Deir al-Balah, Palestine. Today, I am suffering with my family from the most difficult wars that any human being on earth can face. I was displaced from my hometown in Gaza, the Shujaiya neighborhood, in search of safety and stability, but life was not as I imagined.

I have four young children, and our only home was a shelter for us, but due to the continuous bombing, our home was destroyed and a cramped tent became our only shelter. After my job was suspended due to the harsh conditions, I found myself facing countless financial difficulties.

It was not easy to accept the fact that, as a father, I was unable to provide the decent life that my children deserve. Every day, they are exposed to the heat of the sun and hunger, and they beg me to give them a better chance in life.

I am here today, desperate and in pain, seeking your generous help. With your support, we will be able to rebuild our destroyed home, and provide my children with the basic necessities of life, including food, clothing, and healthcare.

I ask you with an open heart and open hands to contribute to this campaign, every drop of help will make a big difference in my family’s life. Do not hesitate to contribute and share this story with your friends and family, because the only hope we have today is your generous hand. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your understanding and support in this difficult period.” #Here_is_Gaza

ZAIN
Hello, I am Zain from Gaza, 16 years old, displaced in Rafah, and living in harsh and difficult conditions in a tent on the beach. I was studying in high school and dreamed of studying engineering sciences until October 7th. I woke up to the terrifying sounds of explosions and tried to go to safe places repeatedly. I was displaced approximately 5 times, and during the second displacement, I was injured in my back and had minor head injuries. I need to continue my treatment and undergo a laser operation for my spine, which is not available in Gaza. I need to travel to Egypt to complete the treatment and require 20,000 euros for evacuation with my mother:

10,000 for travel with my mother,

9,420 for the surgery and accommodation expenses,

and 580 euros as a state tax.

Please help me get out for treatment. I don’t want to die so easily; I want to achieve my dreams. Please help me with that, and I hope you can help share the campaign with your family, friends, and relatives. Your help means a lot to me and is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

YAZAN
My name is Yazan Fura, and I am 18 years old. I am the eldest of six siblings—Muhammad, Yamen, Yasser, Hussein, and Haya. My family, including my father and mother, are residents of the northern Gaza Strip. We have been displaced, forced to flee our home and live in a tent for more than 300 days, in the south of Gaza.

Our lives have been turned upside down, and we are suffering in ways we never imagined. Every second and every minute our lives are in danger.

Here are some of the struggles we face daily:

  • Lack of Food: We struggle every day to find enough food to eat.
  • No Jobs: There are no jobs available, leaving us with no way to earn money.
  • Financial Hardship: We have no money to buy even the most basic necessities.
  • Exploitation: Although humanitarian aid arrives, it is often stolen and sold to us at exorbitant prices.
  • No Cooking Gas: Even when food is available, we have no gas to cook it.
  • Stagnation: We have been stuck in the same place for over 300 days, suffocating in this endless routine.
  • Child Hunger: Every day, children are dying from severe hunger.
  • Water Scarcity: Finding clean drinking water is a daily challenge.
  • No Electricity: We live without electricity, making every task more difficult.
  • No Life: We are merely surviving, not living.
