Synopsis
Sergio, an environmental engineer sent to deliver an expert report, lands in Guinea-Bissau with an air of nonchalance, open to chance encounters and unexpected turns. There he meets Gui, a Brazilian with a dazzling gift of gab, searching for roots that remain out of reach, and Diára (Best Actress award at Cannes – Un Certain Regard), who unsettles Sergio with her unapologetic sensuality. Gui and Diára are close friends, immersed in the city’s queer nightlife, forever on the move. What emerges is a love triangle of shifting, uneven edges, forming and unraveling through scenes of dancing and embraces, where Sergio is cast alternately as prey and as threat. A radiant film about post-colonialism, contradictions, and desire.
