2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Studio Ghibli, the legendary Japanese animation house responsible for such films as My Neighbour Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and The Boy and the Heron. The studio was founded on 15 June 1985 by iconic directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata and producer Toshio Suzuki. Over four decades, Ghibli has become a cultural phenomenon appreciated the world over for its imaginative stories, profound themes and breathtaking animation.
To mark the occasion, Cinéma Galeries invites you to (re)discover the studio’s films, including some restored versions and others rarely shown in cinema.
Lupin III : The Castle of Cagliostro, Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film, and Panda Panda, two short movies directed by Isao Takahata, round off the retrospective.
Finally, the Sherlock Holmes series, some episodes of which were directed by Hayao Miyazaki, will be shown over five screenings from September to January.
