Synopsis
In the early 17th century, somewhere in Germany, a mysterious soldier arrives in a remote Protestant village. Small in stature and naturally modest, with a scar marking his face, the stranger claims to be the heir to a long-abandoned farmstead. He presents a document to the suspicious villagers to substantiate his claim. Over time, he manages to dispel their doubts, and by proving himself to be a hardworking and God-fearing man, he is accepted into the community. But his quest for acceptance is based on a deliberate lie.
