Three friends with dreams of glory are trying to break into their respective fields: modelling for Billie, music for Suk-ling and cinema for Yuk-ping. Tony, an idle young man from a wealthy family, is quickly integrated into the gang and begins a relationship with Billie. Their daily lives are thrown into turmoil when Yuk-ping is found murdered in her flat. In charge of the investigation, Detective Lan becomes close to the bereaved friends.
