Renowned filmmaker, David Lynch is also a visual artist, designer and musician. He has just created a huge expectation at the beginning of October 2014 with the return, 25 years later, of the mythical television series “Twin Peaks”. David Lynch posted a video on his Twitter account announcing the return of the series on the American television channel Showtime. The video shows a close-up of Laura Palmer and the entrance sign to the mysterious village located between the United States and Canada on which is written: 2016. We will have to wait two years to see Agent Dale Cooper again in a new season of nine episodes written by the original duo Mark Frost and David Lynch.

This huge wait is a credit to the director. His innovative and surreal style has become recognisable to many viewers and critics. It is characterised by its dreamlike aesthetic and meticulous sound design. The sometimes violent imagery of his films gives him a reputation for “disturbing, offending or mystifying” his audience. Lynch takes a dark and hallucinatory look at the disturbing human reality that lies behind the smooth social mise-en-scene in small-town America. He is the author of such unforgettable works as Elephant Man, The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive.

From November 21, 2014 to March 1, 2015, the CINEMA GALERIES will take advantage of this wait to revisit his multidisciplinary career by programming a complete retrospective and proposing an exhibition of photographs, the object of an exceptional carte blanche for the Maison Européenne de la Photographie. For this exhibition, David Lynch has imagined “Small Stories”: small stories, based on some forty of his black and white photographs, created especially for the exhibition. Dreamlike, disturbing, inhabited images… in which the visitor will find the recurring motifs of the director’s universe

Exhibition: 14:00 to 18:00 (until 22:00 on retrospective nights). Closed on Mondays.
    Prices: Retrospective: 8,50/6,50. Expo: 5,00/ 3,OO.
